Taking care of you

Updated: Nov 6, 2019

We live in a busy world. There's always something to do, some where to go, messages to reply to, work to finish, chores to get done, blah, blah, blah, the list goes on and on! When you finally do get home you just want to sit and relax, watch some Netflix, scroll some Facebook, browse Instagram and then hit the hay... and repeat. The weekends get filled with errands, kids games or recitals, practices or more work. Busy, busy, busy. The next thing you know another month has come and gone and you still haven't got in that time for you.

First, know that you are not alone! But still the question remains: how do I get time in for me? Simple answer? Schedule it in! Just like giving our body time to sleep our minds need times of purposeful rest. Times of silence or maybe it's times of being able to let go. Whether your an introvert or an extravert you need time set aside for peace. How do we do that?

  • Once a month set aside an hour or two for a massage. I like to go to a local business called “Next Level Regen” and do 3 minutes in Cryotherapy, 20 minutes in the infrared bed followed by a 90 minute massage. I feel just amazing! It has helped my body heal from injuries, deal with major stress and have time where no one needs anything from me.

  • When you get done...Make an appointment for next month!

  • Take a yoga or BodyFlow class once a week. Working on flexibility, balance and strength is great but the end is the BEST! Relaxation and meditation. It’s SO important! Your body needs purposeful times of stillness. You might be thinking, “oh that’s not for me, I don’t like to sit still.” I get it. I use to be the same way. There’s a huge purpose to it though that has great benefits. When you quiet your mind, you can start to let go mentally, you can let go of all that stress, you can just... be. Some people fall asleep in my classes in meditation, some find it’s a good time to pray, for some it’s a release of emotion and they cry. Others find it as their quiet time where they can just feel their breath, relax their bodies and be still. It’s a time to let go of what doesn’t matter and focus on what does.

  • Make time to have a meal or some coffee/tea with a good friend. You know, one you can just sit and talk to forever. Schedule it in once a month.

You have one body to live in, take care of the outside and the inside. You'll be a healthier and happier person because of it!
