The CORE of the matter

Most people think of the core as a nice six-pack, or strong, toned abs, but the truth is that the abdominal muscles are a very small part of the core. The abs have very limited and specific action, and what experts refer to as the "core" actually consists of many different muscles that stabilize the spine and pelvis, and run the entire length of the torso. When these muscles contract, they stabilize the spine, pelvis and shoulder girdle and create a solid base of support. When this happens, we are able to generate powerful movements with the rest of the body!
So, its not all about your abs? This isn’t just about getting ripped. (but getting a toned mid section is a HUGE benefit!) It’s about helping YOU to be stronger where you need it most. When your core is solid you can challenge yourself more. And you are less likely to injure yourself. Your core supports all your extremities.Think of your core as a foundation of a house: if you have a strong foundation the rest of your "house" (body) is going to look and work more efficiently.
A strong core enables you to properly perform movement patterns and move weight that may have once been challenging or impossible. An increased range of motion means a decrease in injury and pain.
Benefits of a Strong Core:
Improves Athletic Performance
Reduces Back Pain
Improves Posture
Helps with Balance
A core training added to the end of almost every workout will help you to be stronger no matter what your life demands!
